Go to the movies and you can catch a comedy, a drama, a VFX laden blockbuster. Still, when it comes to teaching us its vocabulary, reality TV can’t compete with decades of film.
Because of that, the differences in genres of unscripted entertainment are often lost on the casual viewer.
And while a show that works on History might also work on Discovery, there’s no way that same show could work on Lifetime.
